Tobias Green Venetian Application Guide

Description

Tobias Green Finishes will change the way you think about finishing your drywall interiors. A complete system specifically developed to meet the Drywall industry’s demand for a wall finish that addresses common drywall industry concerns with critical lighting, recycled paper, gloss paint, joint photographing, and thin wall coverings.

Venetian - 3 coat application achieves a Veneer Finish; mottles naturally and burnishes as it finishes to a subtle sheen.

Surface Preparation

Industry Standard Level 5: Tape embedded in joint compound and wiped with a joint knife, leaving a thin coat of compound over tape.  Surface shall be covered by three separate coats of joint compound.  A thin skim coat of joint compound, or a material manufactured especially for this purpose, shall be applied to the entire surface.  The surface shall be smooth and free of tool marks and ridges.  Note:  It is recommended that the prepared surface be coated with a drywall primer prior to the application of final finishes.

Substrate Priming

Prime the Wall and Ceiling with a quality primer. Substrate must be dry, clean, and free of any oil, grease, mildew, and other foreign materials or contaminants.

Mixing

No mixing required. Mixing may be required only if the product tint date located on the bucket exceeds three weeks.

Application

Apply Tobias Green Venetian finish to the primed substrate. Same application technique as a skim /putty coat. Pre-mixed ready to machine or hand apply over a primed new or existing construction substrate as a level 5 finish, three coat system.

1. Begin with a primed quality level five drywall finish.

2. Scrape to insure that the surface is smooth and free of dried primer.

3. Cover the wall completely with a thin coat of material and knock it down using a stainless steel trowel. Smooth and level the surface leaving soft trowel marks. Color will possibly appear slightly lighter in areas.

4. When the first coat has not completely set up or about 75% dry… apply the second coat.

5. For the second coat, use a stainless steel trowel  to apply a thin amount of material using firm short strokes. Smooth and blend. The material will begin to mottle. Be sure to cover the surface completely. Do not leave any openings.

6. Apply a thin third coat with a stainless steel trowel within 3-5 minutes of completing the second coat depending on jobsite conditions. Best when there is another applicator following behind with the third coat.

7. Cover the surface completely using slightly more pressure and pull the product tight.

8. Begin burnishing the material with a plastic trowel and create a flat, consistent surface. Polish until desired sheen is achieved.

9. OPTIONAL - Once completely dry apply a thin coat of Tobias Green WAX with a stainless steel trowel in short strokes. Blend and smooth the wax as you move along the wall. Allow wax to dry thoroughly (approximately 4 hours depending on jobsite conditions ) and buff with an electric buffer using a lambs wool pad at 1500 rpm’s.
